JUNIOR YEAR
Pre-Covid:
During my first two years at UW, I took advantage of as many opportunities as possible so that I could meet new people and find out what kinds of things interested me. I signed up for many clubs and extracurricular activities, and I made many amazing friends. But this year, I took a different approach. I critically analyzed the things that I devote my time to on campus, and I have narrowed down my involvements so that I can focus on the things that I am most passionate about. One difficult decision that I made this year was deciding to leave my sorority. I am thankful for all of the friendships that I made as a Sigma Kappa, and being a member of this organization inspired me to become a more confident, driven, and kind person. However, I no longer feel like I have the time for my sorority to remain a priority in my life as I have become more involved in research and academics. This year I moved into my first apartment with my best friend, and I love the freedom that has come with this transition. I finally feel like a real adult for the first time. Additionally, for the first time in college, I have not taken 18+ credits a quarter, and I have been spending more time with my friends and exploring Washington. And honestly, I forgot what it felt like to not feel stressed about school all of the time until this year. So far 2020 has consisted of a visit to Portland with my best friends from UW, a trip to the Bahamas with my family, and a weekend in Whistler with members of my sorority. I am sad that my time at UW is coming to an end next year, but I am excited for what is yet to come.
Post-Covid:
This school year definitely did not go the way that I expected. I ended up moving back home to Portland at the end of Winter quarter, and I have been living with my family for the past 15 weeks. During quarantine I did just about every possible quarantine activity like watching all of Tiger King in a day, tie dying everything I own that's white, and organizing everything in my room and closet. One positive thing about quarantine was that I finally had the time to take care of a foster cat named Squid.

SOPHOMORE YEAR
This was year marked the first time I was ever counting down the days for summer to end because I was so excited to go back to school. I participated in sorority recruitment, and helped my sorority Sigma Kappa find some awesome new members. I bonded with a lot of the girls in my house, and we had fun sisterhood events such as going to the pumpkin patch and ice skating. I got an amazing little, Aly, and had a ton of fun planning our big little reveal. I went skiing 12 times over winter break (a personal record!) when I was home in Portland. My family went on a trip to Italy, France, and Switzerland, and saw some of the most beautiful cities I have ever experienced. After winter break, there was my first Seattle Snowpocalypse! I enjoyed the break from classes and explored the snowy campus with my friends. During spring break, my family went to South Carolina and we visited the city I grew up in North Carolina for the first time since we moved away. I visited lots of greenhouses and saw some beautiful plants, and I went to the Skagit Valley Tulip festival and saw so many tulips. This year also consisted of many trips to the Oregon Coast!
FRESHMAN YEAR
I LOVE life in Seattle! I took a course during early fall start, and I moved into Lander Hall in August. I explored Seattle with the new friends that I made, and I met some of my current best friends during Gen Chem lecture fall quarter, which surprised me. I joined the UW equestrian team, and I was elected as fundraising chair. I enjoyed showing with the team my freshman year, and I even competed against some of my friends from high school who ride for the University of Oregon, but I had a bad fall spring quarter that has prevented me from continuing riding due to back pain. I was an editor for Grey Matters, the UW undergrad neuroscience journal, and I improved my scientific writing skills and learned how to efficiently collaborate. I went to France and Morocco during winter break, and had an amazing time! Lastly, I joined a sorority and moved in during Spring quarter and made a ton of amazing friends!
